Thank you for opening that topic Rebel!!

my favorite film ever is from Ken Loach, its "my name is Joe"
in that part of the movie, I like the opposition between the quietness of the scene inside and the anger outside
just like Joe's character.... I like all Ken Loach's movies, even they are hard.

Thanks for that, Bridie Very Happy Ken Loach is a brilliant director and has just made a film starring Eric Cantona. That's one I won't miss!!

Here's a lesser known Irish film starring Gabriel Byrne (deep sigh) and Ellen Barkin.
Its beautiful and one of my favourites I love you

Into the West.

Just a lil' coffee break before I shower stp .....Housework all done... KN happy, happy days.... hair Now off to the job I get paid for... zen
I love that movie All About Eve.....I remember watching it years ago with my Mam....she was a big Bette Davis fan....i used to watch all the old black and whites with her and she'd tell me who everyone was.....I think that guy in the scene is George Saunders.....and Miss Caswell was Marilyn Munroe in I think her first appearance on Film....it was a very good story.......as most oldies were..... and without the sex and violence which seem to be a must in todays movies.......sometimes I find modern movies a tad too realistic to be entertaining.... pale Shocked
I would have to think about what my favs are....I was kinda reared on Musicals...which my Dad would settle us all down to look at on a cold Sunday afternoon.....with the result I think I know nearly every song from every Musical ever made.... Embarassed Embarassed You name it I'll sing it.... sng you might not want to hear it...but I'll sing it anyway... tongue
I'll have a think and come back.....I'll bet it's a musical.... cheers
Bridge I'm familiar with the name Ken Loach.....but can't think of any Movies he made right now...never seen 'My name is Joe'.....or 'Into The West'.... scratch

As for Ken Loach.....Like Bridie said, he directed "The Wind That Shakes The Barley". Wink

And what about the famous "Singing in the rain", it's my mum's favourite movie.

Loving the movies being posted in here, Ladies!!! cheers

Here's my fav comedy of all time.
"Some Like it Hot" was directed by Billy Wilder, one of the greatest writer/directors of all time.....the greatest, in my opinion I love you
Released in 1959, it only won 1 Oscar (Best Costume). Jack Lemmon was robbed as "Best Actor"!! I think he was amazing as "Daphne" Cool
One of the best scenes. Priceless when Lemmon says "Its a whole different sex"! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Corrine I have to agree about that Movie.....
It's such a lovely but very sad story.......and i suppose something that could easily happen.....and watching it you don't know what you want her to do.....jump out and ride off into the sunset....even tho' it's raining with Clint....oorrrrr....stay with her husband.... you can almost feel how she feels..... Sad Meryl Streep is an excellent actress...you should watch it Bridge...and I dare you not to blubber like a baby.... Sad Sad
Anyway here is my offering The King and I.....and probably one of my favourites as a kid....this is my very favourite scene......OOOOHHHH how I wanted that dress.... flower and to dance around a big ballroom like that..... I love you now that I'm older it is still a fav.....but I'd be more interested in Yul Brynner now than the dress......what a sexy man he was....even tho' he was bald... Very Happy probably the only bald man I've ever found attractive...GRRRRRRRRR.... Twisted Evil
Note Deborah Kerr's heaving bosom when he puts his arm around her.... Laughing Laughing oh siiiiggghhhhh.. Twisted Evil
Reb....S.L.I.H......a great film....and I thought Jack Lemon stole the show....he was great.... Wink
I'm off to work now and the a weeks holiday.... cheers did I tell you I was going to Paris.... lol! lol!

ahhhhhhhhhhh Coill me too loved Anna and the king... same as you... the dresses she got... and Yul... so sexy even when he said "etc. etc. etc."

here's an anthological scene of Shawshank redemption, one of the best film ever I think...
Andy plays Mozart and all the prisoners feel free...

Do you know I have never seen a Star Wars movie.... Embarassed I have no interest in them and I'm not even curious about them...... scratch even tho' my son was a big fan as a lil' boy....and he would regularly disappear upstairs and come down dressed as......mmmmm... scratch eh!.... confused the (Ewan McGregor character confused )...and I picked up many a light sabre off the floor at night after he had gone to bed.... Sleep KN
I am however eternally grateful to George Lucas for the many hours of peace while lil' Mr. sat glued to his movies.... cheers and I am equally thankful to Walt Disney for the same reason.... cup Many a mothers sanity was saved by these men and their imaginations..... Cool lol! cheers

I loved the Star Wars movies! Especially the first 3, but not so much the last 3.
BUT, just recently while I was up at the Lake by myself, I went to the video store. I had never seen a "Harry Potter" movie, but I had heard many people really liked them. So, I bought the 5 that are out on DVD. Actually, I bought used ones so I only paid about $5.00 for each one. One week-end I had a little "Harry Potter" marathon by myself and I have to say I really liked them. They are not usually my kind of movie, but I found myself very caught up in them. Just the imagination of the writer, J.K. Rowling was amazing to me. I watched a special on TV about her and her life and it was so interesting. I heard the books are even better, but I wouldn't go that far as to read the books.

I read the first few editions of Harry Potter to my son...I think he was about 8 or so when they came out.... scratch he liked me to read and do different voices for different characters......his favourite voice was Hagrid.... lol! lol! I'd go up and lie on his bed with him at bedtime saying I was only reading a few pages....but I'd end up reading the whole chapter.... Laughing as he got older he read them himself....and I lost intrest in them... Sleep saw one or two of the movies when the kids got them as presents.....enjoyed what I read tho'........probably because he enjoyed it so much...he'd be lost in it wiz and the coolest thing for him as a big fan was that he had a scar on his forehead like Harry where he fell off the sofa onto the fireplace when he was 2 years old.... affraid just above the scar in his eyebrow where he fell on the coffee table...when he was 1 1/2...... Rolling Eyes No just below the other scar in his head where his sister accidentally hit him on the head with her Dads golf club because she didn't know he was behind her...... pale vlan Just as well Mr. C. was there for all these events because I would get almost hysterical and weak with the sight of my child covered in blood..... affraid pale vlan could never have been a nurse..... No pale
Anyway Sidney....the books are better than the movies..... and J.K. Rowling has to be admired for the success she achieved through her wonderful imagination... Cool
Speaking of Harry Potter.....did you know that Janey Mad Mod compered me and Reb to the Harry Potter stories....... Very Happy apparently Reb was Harry Potter and I was Voldemort...... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes you know....the evil one.... wiz really Very Happy I thought to myself..... scratch What was evil about me.... ;k or does she just see anyone who's smarter than her and sees through her like a pane of glass .... Very Happy as evil.... Wink The only way this dimwit could better me and 'deal' with me was to get my account deleted.... wiz this fool was no match for me and well she knew it.... Twisted Evil Makes me wonder how she sees herself when she looks in the mirror through her 'rose tinted glasses'........ does she see what we see.... clown Wink
